PayPal Passkeys are now available for Android devices as the digital payment platform improves its security features, a move that PayPal hopes will result in the decline of phishing incidents attacking user accounts.
A PayPal Passkey allows users to log in to their accounts without a password, making transactions more secure and effortless. This move follows the company’s rollout of the same feature to iOS devices last year.
Paypal said that passwords will still be working, but it reminded its users that with the introduction of PayPal Passkeys, they can take the next step toward a passwordless future.
This latest innovation is in compliance with the standards set by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium which envisions getting rid of passwords by replacing them with cryptographic key pairs and digital credentials instead. This includes fingerprint, biometric sensors, a PIN or a pattern, or facial recognition.
