What is Bird Box Barcelona About?
“Bird Box Barcelona” is a dystopian film about a world taken over by an alien threat. Humans have figured out that the threat uses peoples’ sight to get into their minds and cause them to do unspeakable things, sometimes to other people but mostly to themselves. Because of this, they’ve resorted to wearing blindfolds whenever in public to keep themselves protected. The film is a spin-off of the hit movie “Bird Box,” but set in Barcelona, Spain. Here, Sebastian and his daughter, Anna, travel the country trying to survive. However, in an unexpected plot twist, it is later revealed that Anna actually passed away months ago and what Sebastian sees is an apparition. The apparition, in the form of Anna, managed to convince Sebastian that the entities are actually angels, and that humans best succumb to them so they can go to a better place. Thus starts Sebastian’s mission of misleading groups of survivors, telling them he’ll be taking them to safety and shelter when in actuality he will be tricking them into taking off their blindfolds and surrendering to the threat. Sebastian, as a seer, is unaffected by the said angels and is safe, hence his survival.
His latest group of victims comprises Rafa, who brings along two dogs, Octavio, Roberto, Isabel, Claire, and a young girl named Sofia. The group gets killed off one by one, leaving Claire and Sofia with Sebastian. However, Sebastian eventually rouses from his trance and starts to doubt Anna. After fully realizing the fault in what he’s been doing, he promises to bring Claire and Sofia to safety – for real this time. He ends up doing just that, but at the cost of his own life.
