What Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners About?
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” is a web anime based on the video game “Cyberpunk 2077.” The anime takes place a year before the events of the game. It follows a talented yet troubled young man named David, who was left alone after losing his mother in a fatal car accident. David was left with nothing apart from a mysterious cybernetic implant that his mother hid.
Bereaved and disheartened, David had the implant installed. This granted him superhuman speed and reflexes without any apparent side effects. David would soon cross paths with a small team of Edgerunners who owned the implant. David was offered a place with the crew in exchange for paying off the implant.
David became a valued member of the team, developing a strong familial bond with the crew and forming an intimate relationship with an enigmatic netrunner named Lucy. However, the past would soon catch up with David and his crew, as the powerful and mysterious Arasaka Corporation has taken a keen interest in David and his implant.
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” has ten episodes in total, with a 23-26-minute runtime per episode. All ten episodes of the web anime premiered on Netflix on September 13, 2022.

Rafal Jaki worked with the original creator of the Cyberpunk game franchise Mike Pondsmith to create the anime for Netflix.
