What is Fist Fight About?
“Fist Fight” is a comedy that revolves around two teachers and one big misunderstanding. When school is about to end for summer vacation, English teacher Andy Campbell and history teacher Ron Strickland get into an altercation that starts with a senior prank and rumors about a number of staff getting cut due to a lack in budget and a school-wide downsizing. During class, students use Andy’s phone to prank call Ron, and, with tensions already high, Ron becomes enraged. When a fire axe and a broken desk get involved, the two are sent to the principal’s office and unfortunately, Ron gets fired. The latter then challenges Andy to a fistfight in the school parking lot, but Andy manages to fix things and get Ron reinstated before then. As of that moment, the fight is off. However, to add to the rollercoaster of events, Ron finds out that he only got reinstated because Andy asked another teacher to lie to the administration to clear his name, and he gets mad once again. The fight is back on, and in a desperate attempt to not get clobbered, Andy plants drugs among Ron’s belongings. This backfires and ends up with the two stuck together in a jail cell. They get cleared once the police discover the drugs are actually just aspirin, but not before Andy manages to get Ron beat up by one of the inmates.
With Ron still pissed off, the fight commences, only to end because Andy’s wife, Maggie, goes into labor. The two clear the air once Ron offers to drive Andy to the hospital, and they become best friends. Fast forward to the summer, the general public’s reaction to the fistfight earned attention to the issue of their school downsizing and firing a majority of their staff, and after some negotiating, Andy manages to reinstate all his colleagues and gets their school a bigger budget from the Department of Education.

Friendship Over Violence
“Fist Fight,” in all its comedy and funniness, shows the value of hearing out our friends and colleagues before jumping to conclusions and resorting to violence.
