What Is Jurassic Park About?
Set on the fictional remote island of Isla Nublar, “Jurassic Park” introduces a cutting-edge theme park created by wealthy businessman John Hammond. The park’s main attraction is real-life dinosaurs, which have been brought back to life through advanced genetic engineering technologies. Two skeptical paleontologists, Dr. Alan Grant, and Dr. Ellie Sattler, along with mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, were invited to the park to inspect its safety and approve its operations. Upon arriving at the facility, the trio were wonderstruck by the sight of real and living dinosaurs.
Things go awry when the park’s security system fails, causing an intelligent Velociraptor to escape. A tropical storm also hits the island and causes a blackout, leading to further chaos. With the power out, the dinosaurs, including the gigantic and fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex, become a significant threat to everyone on the island. Dr. Grant, Dr. Sattler, Dr. Malcolm, and Hammond must find ways to outwit the dinosaurs and restore electricity on the island before it’s too late. Throughout the film, the characters went through intense chase sequences and spine-chilling encounters with the dinosaurs as they desperately attempt to solve the crisis.
“Jurassic Park” explores the limits of human knowledge and the catastrophic consequences of tampering with the natural world.
The film hit theaters on June 1993. It will have a theatrical rerun on September 1, 2023.
