What is Telemarketers About?
“Telemarketers” is an American documentary series that delves into the stories of Patrick Pespas and Sam Lipman-Stern, two ex-workers of the telemarketing company Civic Development Group (CDG). When they start suspecting that something shady is going on at the company, they set to uncover the truth. Not only does the series show the ugly truth behind the company’s workplace ethics – which is to allow drug use and other acts as long as the employees are performing well – but it also exposes the company for pocketing the money that clients send them as donations for police organizations. Pat and aspiring Sam get to work on creating their exposé in the form of this documentary, and they enlist the help of Sam’s cousin, Adam Bhala Lough.
“Telemarketers,” released on HBO from August 13 to August 27, 2023, is divided into three parts.

“Telemarketers” serves as a reminder to look into companies you’d like to support, as under the guise of helping others, they might just be another scheme to put money into the wrong people’s pockets. The series is a brave act by CDG’s ex-employees, and it would do the world some good for all of us to have the same bravery to do the right thing when caught in the midst of immoral practices.
